Articulate Storyline 360, Google Docs, Colorzilla, Storyset.com
I worked with a client who wanted to create a document that would support teachers’ backwards planning (understanding by design) without overwhelming teachers with information on a single slide or multiple slides in a deck. She wanted them to be able to access the information easily while planning without having to constantly search for it.
After the initial meeting, I created a storyboard and a couple design iterations, and we met again so that I could get feedback. We settled on the cleaner look of the final design, complete with school colors.
After creating the initial slide, the client asked to include the DOK portion of the project so that teachers wouldn’t have to look in multiple places while they backwards planned. She liked the continuity of the tab interaction, so we continued with that idea.
I built the final project in Articulate Storyline 360. I built the initial tab interaction and was able to reuse a lot of the same structure throughout the other parts of the project. I used states for both the buttons and the content box with about 5 triggers firing per button.
Tab interaction, menu options, return buttons, hover buttons
It was fun to guide a client through what I thought would be the best bet for the product they wanted. I enjoyed being able to make recommendations based on how the tool would be used. I think the clean design lends itself to being useful as it’s less likely to overwhelm teachers who are looking to use it.
